DOLLKEN'S letterhead and the logo that was used for it has changed many times over the years.
On this page we show some of those changes.
Below you will see the logo as it was from 1906.
This was during the time Kurt’s grandfather, Leopold Simon was running the company.
The sailing boat at the right side stood for the import of lumber from overseas.
Leopold’s son, Ernst and Otto, built up their own trading department within the company to import lumbers from all over the world.

Below you will see the letterhead from 1926.
This was 3 years before the 600 year old town of Werden was incorporated into the much bigger town of Essen.
After that incorporation the company’s location would always show as “Essen-Werden”.

This is another Letterhead from 1926.
This was the specific letterhead for the moulding department of the company.
It showcases the aerial photography of the company site taken by an official agency in Hamburg and passed on to Döllken for their personal use.

Here we see the Letterhead from 1934.
It is a major redesign of the logo.
Kurt was integral in the new design, choosing to emphasize the two LLs of DOLLKEN by making them longer than the other letters. It was a distinct and eye catching new logo.

Here we see the English Letterhead for the company from 1935.
Notice that the location, company description and all other information is in English.
This was very helpful and probably used frequently since Döllken had opened and utilized an additional office in London for their export business.

This is the letterhead Döllken would adopt more than 60 years later under the new owners in 2000.
At the end of that year Döllken left Essen-Werden after 113 years.
Note that the LL was still being elongated and emphasized, but to show growth and change, they also chose to elongate the K.
Their current logo still looks just like this.
So even after 84 years, Kurt’s design choice from the 1934 Letterhead is still being carried forward.
Just another way the Simon Family Legacy is being remembered.
